A touching book that is perfect for children who are just beginning to think about death. This carefully written simple story deals with the issue of being afraid to die. The beautiful ending is surprising and hopeful.

I recommend this book to every parent and teacher who needs a book to help a child through death, separation and loss.

Analee doesn't want to leave her home on the maple tree. She cannot hold on forever, though, and must face the inevitable change that comes when she is the last leaf to fall. A story for all ages and brilliantly illustrated by Donna Maske, children and adults can learn together that change is a natural part of life and not something to fear. This book is especially helpful for children dealing with loss.
This is achieved by seeing the world through the eyes of a leaf who fears the changes she sees taking place all around her, and finally learning she has nothing to fear as she takes her place in
the great circle of life.

Makin' Memories was officially released on May 27th, 2014!! That means everyone now has access to it globally whether on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com or your local bookstore (where you may have to request it to be ordered). However, the greatest marketing and advertising method is by word of mouth, so if you like it, please, please spread the word! I'm especially looking forward to getting out there and doing book signings and readings, so if you are interested in having me visit your school, library, or other organization, please contact me and let's get something started!!
I really couldn't have done this book without the incredible encouragement of my entire family, starting with my loving husband, Tony, my parents, Edward and Joyce Young, my in-laws, Jane and Roy Richards, my sister Beth (and her family!), and my children, Chance, Skyler, Arianna, Seth, and Kael.
But most of all right now I need to thank Donna Maske because her incredible vision and artwork brought my story to life in a way I never could've imagined... thanks for being my artist, and my dear, dear friend, Donna. Someday our work will actually PAY off!! In the meantime, accept my gratitude and admiration for bringing "Makin'Memories" to life with your paintbrush. You are awesome!
I love hearing from readers who share their enthusiasm for my book, or just want to say "hello". So please feel free to email me by clicking on the contact button listed on the menu above and it will take you to a site where you can get in touch with me!
